- Bart stops along Market.
- Soma first.
- Southern Expeditions - The Mission.
- Western Expeditions - Upper and Lower Haight Street.
- Western Expeditions - The Castro.
- Northern expeditions - The Cable Car Option.
The Tenderloin - Northern expeditions - North Beach/Chinatown.
- Around the edges of the Wharf
- The far-west - Golden Gate Park, the Exploratorium, Golden Gate Bridge, the Cliffhouse & Sutro bath ruins
Bart Stops
If you're coming into the city on Bart, let's look at your options:
- Embarcadero Station - near California & Drumm on the north side of Market, near "Main" street on the south side. Good place to get off for a Northern Expedition, particularly if you want to catch a Cable Car.
- Montgomery Street - near Montgomery & Post on the north side of Market, near 2nd Street on the south side. A good place for Northern Expeditions, but also a good place if you want to start with South Park in Soma.
- Powell Street - near Powell & Eddy on the north side, near 5th Street on the south side. There's a booth here that sells transit "passports". A good place to transfer to the Haight street bus (71).
- Civic Center - near Hyde & Grove on the north side, near Eighth Street on the south side. Closest stop to the Brainwash down in Soma.
- 16th Street Mission Station - At 16th & Mission, down in The Mission. (Got it?) Head west for the hipster zone.
- 24th Street Mission Station - at 24th & Mission. A good place to start a Southern Expedition.
- Incidentally, I don't recommend going any further than this... I know a picnic in Colma sounds like a cute idea and all, but if you're only going to be in the area a few weeks, you've got better things to do.
